Class of 2013
Cathy Levesque is a Woonsocket native who has had a love of theatre for many years. She first became a volunteer with the Stadium Theatre Performing Arts Center in Woonsocket 1980.
Back then she was the director of school time programming for the Northern Rhode Island Council of the Arts.
However, being a volunteer doesn’t pay the bills. She left for a full time paying job. For the next 25 years Cathy worked in marketing for two savings banks.
In 2005, she was back at the Stadium Theatre as its first marketing director. Two years later she was promoted to Executive Director.
Under Cathy’s leadership, the quantity and genre of events at the Stadium has expanded and educational programs have been added.
She persuaded the Stadium Foundation to purchase additional space that houses a new intimate performing venue named the Marquee Room.
The Stadium Theatre has become a model for community involvement and is a frontrunner in the Blackstone Valley and beyond in bringing local, regional and international artists to the area.
Cathy’s energy and love for the stadium theatre is tireless.
Her efforts to constantly “raise the bar” has resulted not only in positive economic development and a demonstrated cultural and holistic impact in Southern New England, but it truly is a major success story for Woonsocket.
