Microfilm Searches
Researchers scan one of the thousands of reels of microfilm containing images of the original birth, marriage, burial or other records that date back to the founding of Quebec province in the mid-1600s.

The Film Room contains almost 7,000 microfilms and some microfiche on file for your viewing. This is made up of many collections, first and foremost is our prestigious Drouin Institute microfilms, as well as other collections listed in the Film Room Holdings section. Available for your use are multiple microfilm and microfiche readers. We also have a high quality scanner/printer to make copies of the documents you located on the films.

As a Family History Affiliate, AFGS members now have the capability of viewing records that were previously not available to our library on familysearch.org.  Researchers are now able to view more records on familysearch.org at the AFGS library than is available on home computers.

The Film Room Request Copy Service is where members and non-members who are unable to visit the library can request a copy of births, marriages and death from the vital records of Rhode Island, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont for a small fee. We also offer copies of births and marriages from the Rhode Island church microfilms. Email us for more information.
