Following are volunteer opportunities available with AFGS. If you are interested in any of the positions or would like further information, please email or fill out and submit the Volunteer Application.
Our by-laws require each of these positions to be filled by a member in good standing.
Volunteer Coordinator: Responsible for recruiting and scheduling volunteers for various duties within the AFGS.
Online Publications Editor: Responsible for soliciting, choosing, editing and compiling material for posting on the AFGS website. The Editor also arranges a limited printing and distribution of paper copies to members.
Program Director: Responsible for preparing the annual workshop and lecture series – arranging for speakers, setting up the room, preparing and distributing notices of the meetings, and arranging for refreshments. Some of these responsibilities can be delegated to volunteers if they are available. The Program Director submits monthly reports to the Board of Directors on activities.
Fundraising and Events Committee: We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to join our Fundraising and Events Committee. We are hoping to have some exciting events happening in during the year and would be thrilled to have you as part of our team!
Acquisition Committee: The purpose of the Acquisition Committee is to develop a strategy and policy in order to collect, preserve, organize and develop access to genealogical and cultural material acquired by AFGS.
General Volunteer Opportunities
We are always looking for volunteers for a number of projects, some big, some small, to be done at AFGS or at home. We have something for everyone. Knowledge of genealogy is not required, we’d appreciate your time.
