Roger Begin has devoted much of his adult life to public service. He was elected to the Rhode Island House of Representatives at age 19 and served five terms before being elected General Treasurer. He served in that office for two terms and was then elected Lieutenant Governor in 1989. He left the office in 1993. He also served as chairman of the Rhode Island Board of Elections from 1994 to 2006.
Roger also enjoyed a successful career in banking, first with the Woonsocket Savings and Trust and later with Fleet Investment Management and Bank of America. He is currently the sales director in the Providence office of BNY Mellon Wealth Management. He is also a Certified Financial Planner.
Roger is active in numerous organizations throughout Rhode Island including the Advisory Board of Hasbro Children’s Hospital, and a member of the Joint Board of Trustees of Rhode Island Hospital and Miriam Hospital. He is the Past Board Chair of the Rhode Island Historical Society; Trustee and Past Chair of the Meeting Street Center; an Honorary Trustee of Bryant University; and the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce, to name a few.
Roger is also Honorary Consul of France in Rhode Island and is the founding General Chairman of Autumnfest in Woonsocket.
He is a graduate of Bryant University.
