During that time, she also helped organize a program that enabled young women to work in Appalacia over the summer.  They visited families and taught bible school.  Sister worked in the program for ten years in eastern Kentucky.

In the mid-1980s Sister Helene lived in Rome studying spirituality at the Pontifical Gregorian University.  After returning to Woonsocket, she earned a Masters Degree in Theological Studies from the Weston Jesuit School of Theology.

In the year 2000 she attended a sabbatical program in Colorado at a center focused on healing the whole person.

Upon completion of that program she was offered a staff position where she taught and integrated all that she had learned about wholeness and holiness.

She returned to New England in 2004 and worked as a staff member at centers in Maine and New Hampshire which offered renewal programs for women.
